2023 Futurity Trophy Odds - Ancient Wisdom leapfrogs Diego Velazquez in Doncaster betting

The final Group One of the British flat racing season takes place at Doncaster on Saturday, as a field of talented two-year-olds do battle in the Futurity Trophy. Winners of this quality race often go on to run in next season's Classics. In the last decade alone, we've seen Vertem Trophy winners follow up in the 2000 Guineas, Irish 2000 Guineas, Epsom Derby and even the St Leger.

Aidan O'Brien has won six of the past 12 renewals of this Group One and he'll be represented on Saturday by Diego Velazquez. O'Brien's colt has won both of his starts thus far, including a victory in the Champion Juvenile at Leopardstown last time out and, with Ryan Moore suspended, James Doyle will come in for the ride.

Charlie Appleby will be hoping for a positive end to a dismal season, after supplementing impressive Autumn Stakes winner, Ancient Wisdom into Saturday's main event. Since that new broke, William Buick's mount has been heavily backed and Ancient Wisdom now heads the betting at 6/4.

Roger Teal will be represented by Dancing Gemini, who was last seen running away with the Flying Scotsman Stakes here at Doncaster. John and Thady Gosden's God's Window defeated Ben Brookhouse's Redhot Whisper in a maiden at Doncaster last month and both have been handed Group One entries.

David Menuisier won a big juvenile contest at Saint-Cloud over the weekend and he'll be hoping to see Devil's Point bounce back after two disappointing Group Three efforts. Diego Velazquez's stablemate Battle Cry rounds off the field.
