Francis Graffard's globe-trotting star made the headlines for the first time here at Ascot in 2024, following a runaway victory in the King Edward VII Stakes during the Royal Meeting. After four near-misses in Group One company, Calandagan made his top-level breakthrough in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, before holding off Kalpana to claim a hard-fought victory in last year's King George.

Mickael Barzalona's mount then got the better of Ombudsman in the Champion Stakes, and went on to claim a famous victory in the Japan Cup, upsetting local favourite Masquerade Ball. Calandagan failed to fire on rain-softened ground in the Coronation Cup at Epsom, but returned to winning ways immediately on his return to Saint Cloud earlier this month, where he successfully defended his Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud crown.

Mickael Barzalona will be in the saddle once again as Calandagan goes for his seventh Group One victory on Saturday. Francis Graffard's five-year-old will be number one on your racecard, and he wears the famous green and red silks of owners Aga Khan Stud.
