The final Group One of the British flat racing season takes place at Doncaster on Saturday, as a field of talented two-year-olds do battle in the Futurity Trophy. Winners of this quality race often go on to run in next season's Classics. In the last decade alone, we've seen Vertem Trophy winners follow up in the 2000 Guineas, Irish 2000 Guineas, Epsom Derby and even the St Leger.

2023 Futurity Trophy Tips - Dancing Gemini
Despite Charlie Appleby's struggles this season, I can completely see why Ancient Wisdom has been so well-backed, since being supplemented into this Group One. Appleby's colt relished soft ground when winning the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket, where he had no trouble at all in seeing out eight furlongs.
With money arriving for Ancient Wisdom, Diego Velazquez has drifted out to a backable price and Aidan O'Brien will only run his colt if he feels that he will deal with heavy conditions.
Sitting third in the betting we find DANCING GEMINI (9/2), who boasts winning form here at Doncaster, having bolted up in the Flying Scotsman last time out.
Roger Teal's colt enjoyed the extra ease in the ground when opening his account at Newbury in August. The ground was even softer still on St Leger day, where Dancing Gemini demolished a decent field to win that Listed race by over four lengths.
Lewis Edmunds' mount was showing no signs of tiring when he hit the line at the end of that seven furlong contest. Two of Aidan O'Brien's recent Epsom Derby winners, Camelot and Australia feature heavily in Dancing Gemini's breeding, so I see no reason why he won't get a mile comfortably, even on bottomless ground.
It would be brilliant to see the lesser-known silks of Fishdance Limited get one over the powerhouses that are Godolphin and Ballydoyle. Dancing Gemini appears to have the ability to contend at this level and his proven form on very soft ground will come in handy this weekend.
