2023 Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes Tip - Rue Boissonade
Free Wind and Jackie Oh currently top the market for Saturday's Fillies And Mares. Free Wind wasn't given a hard time by Frankie Dettori when she was beaten in the Arc last time out and dropping back in with her own sex seems like a smart move. Jackie Oh, meanwhile, ran a cracker behind Blue Rose Cen in the Prix de l'Opera on Arc day and Aidan O'Brien's filly looks ready for this step up in trip.
I was really keen on the chances of RUE BOISSONADE (16/1) on Arc weekend. Mikel Delzangles filly has progressed nicely throughout the season and went into the Prix de Royallieu on the back of a fast-finishing fourth behind Warm Heart in the Prix Vermeille.
Rue Boissonade was slowly away from a wide stall and raced very lazily at the rear of the field. Entering the straight, Gerald Mosse was already hard at work and Delzangles filly had the entire field to pass. Rue Boissonade had her late charge halted for a number of strides and once she found clear air with a furlong to travel, Sea Silk Road was already home and hosed.
Mosse's mount picked up again in the closing stages to finish a very good fourth, considering how the race panned out. Dropping back down in trip should suit this improving daughter of Seabhac and Rue Boissonade boasts valuable winning form on bottomless ground.
