Arrest was heavily backed to win the 2023 St Leger on Thursday afternoon, after the jockey bookings for Doncaster were revealed.
Frankie Dettori has been expected to partner Gregory, who he rode to victory in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot. However, when Dettori's name appeared next to the then John and Thady Gosden third-string, Arrest, bookies immediately ran for cover.
Dettori rode Arrest in the Epsom Derby, where the ground was far too quick for Gosden's colt. Arrest returned to form with an easy victory in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury and soft ground at Doncaster swayed Dettori's decision in his favour.
Arrest will run in the famous pink, green and white silks of Juddmonte Stud and carry the number two saddle cloth. Frankie Dettori's mount will also break out of stall 6 down the centre of the track.
