We take a look through the field set to run in the Grade One feature at Sandown on Saturday and provide readers with our 2020 Tingle Creek Chase tips.
The Tingle Creek was first run at Sandown in 1979, and has been an integral race in the National Hunt racing calendar ever since. This Grade One has often been used a starting point for future Champion Chaser, with the names of Desert Orchid, Master Minded, Moscow Flyer and Sprinter Sacre standing out on the illustrious honours list.

2020 Tingle Creek Tips

I had initially tipped Altior to win, and was really excited to see what Nicky Henderson's superstar would produce. Sadly, the team decided last night that the ground was a little too testing for their ten-year-old, and he was withdrawn from the race. Hopefully we'll see Altior run in the Desert Orchid at Kempton over Christmas.
The one I expected to come out was Rouge Vif, who's a much better horse on good ground, and he won't relish the conditions on Saturday. Castlegrace Paddy continually comes up short at Grade One level, and I don't think Brewin'Upastorm really has the speed or slickness over his obstacles to be a top two-miler.
That leaves the Paul Nicholls' duo at the head of the betting. While I think Greaneteen is a young chaser on the up with bags of potential, you simply have to side with POLITOLOGUE here.
Harry Skelton's mount won the Champion Chase at Cheltenham in March, making all the running to score in excellent fashion. Politologue is also a previous winner of this race, having defeated Fox Norton here in 2017.
Nicholls' charge seems to have been around forever, but Politologue is only nine, and he often runs well fresh. All of his best performances have come on soft ground, and his only previous start on heavy ended in a 59-length demolition job in a Listed Novices' Hurdle. I can see why he's replaced Altior as the favourite, and it would be a shock if Politologue was beaten in Saturday's Tingle Creek.
Verdict
With Altior now out of the picture, 2017 Tingle Creek winner and reigning Champion Chaser, Politologue is certainly the best bet in what could turn into a very testing race.
